is the motivation behind Colloquy, for solo violin
and chamber ensemble. Although this piece is very much a concertino
for solo violin and chamber ensemble, rather than any recognizable distinction
or struggle existing between the soloist and the ensemble, there is
much more of a dialogue, an exchange of ideas, between them. In fact,
all the music that the ensemble performs comes directly from the solo
violin music. Premiered in Rochester, New York, October, 2002. Additional performance by Sequitur, Andrea Schultz violin, Merkin Hall, New York City, 2009.
